On the of 6thSeptember, 2010, Eastern Precast Concrete ( EPC ) has emerged triumphant among other hopeful bidders after a competitive bidding process for fabrication and supply of precast elements to be used for the construction of the  Aluminium  Refinery complex situated in   Raz Az Zawr, a mega-project venture by Saudi Arabian Mining Company ( Ma’aden ) to which BECHTEL COMPANY were appointed as the main contractor.

According to the data obtained from Ma’aden, “The Ras Az Zawr site comprises a plot of land 90km north of Jubail on the coast of the Arabian gulf. A segment of the site is proposed to be used for the construction of the alumina refinery, aluminium smelter, rolling mill and related infrastructure for the Aluminium Complex. Bauxite ore transported by rail to Ras Az Zawr will be refined to produce 1.8 million mtpy of alumina, which will in turn be processed in the smelter on site to produce 740,000 mtpy of aluminium.

The rolling mill with initial hot-mill capacity of between 250,000 and 460,000 mtpy will focus initially on the production of sheet, end and tab stock for the manufacture of cans and other products.”

Recently, the application of precast concrete has become the fastest trend in the construction industry particularly in the Saudi Arabian market due to its distinctive mark of strength, time-efficiency, durability, and sustainability.

The supply and delivery agreement is targeting completion of not later than 1 December, 2011.

Given the scope of the new project, EPC has started to re-program its production schedules, augment its manpower capacity and fleet system in order to meet the demand and ensure its commitment to customer satisfaction for the high-valued client.

Though relatively considered as a new player in the market, EPC has begun creating a name in precast industry by successfully servicing major clients in the recent past. Thus, we remain steadfast in achieving our ultimate goal that is to serve our clients with the quality service that our group has always been known for.” Mr. Morhaf Bu-Khamsin ( VP for Business Development-ETE Group ) quoted as saying.
